Lake Wanaka Water Purity
The Clutha River at Deans Bank
flows from its source - pure Lake Wanaka.
Wanaka Primary School and Mount Aspiring College Students are part of the Curious Minds Project
We are committed to donating 10% of event entry fees directly to initiatives dedicated to Wanaka water quality. We have teamed up with Aspiring Environmental to create The Touchstone Project. Alongside further seed funding from The Sargood Bequest.
"Fresh water is our greatest natural asset. It is crucial to our way of life, our environment and our economy. We value it for recreation and spiritual wellbeing. Māori regard it as a taonga of paramount importance. Whether you live in the city or the country, water sustains the industries that create our wealth. Water quality matters to all of us".
NZ Ministry for the Environment July 2014 paper on Delivering Freshwater
We feel Lake Wanaka's greatest asset is its purity. The fact you can dip a glass and drink it straight is to many visitors unthinkable. On a worldscale it's unusual. We want to help keep the water of Lake Wanaka clean and pure.
