Race categories
The Ruby is our centerpiece event. People ask why, when it's not the longest and therefore by default not the hardest. It's a simple response - it's unique.
It's Wanaka's swim race around its special island. So we celebrate that. The fact it is a swim length between the 'standards' of 1.9km and 3.8km makes it all the more special.
To challenge for The Rings there are no age restrictions - open to any and all. First one back takes it. Simply step up if you think you are good enough and want to win the prize money and the glittering Ruby Rings for the Male and Female winners.
The prize rings - one available for male, one for female will become a sought after item each year.

The Ruby10. After overwhelming entry numbers in 2018 we will have age group winners as well as top three fastest times for male and female. Also a 'skins' category. But skin means skin {not Lycra FINA approved 'race' tops for instance...}
The full series of events will feature up to 7 separate age groups for 2019.
